The Bakuba Throw draws its inspiration from the geometric patterns found in the Kuba Cloth, a traditional African fabric woven for centuries in Central Africa. Historically crafted from the fronds of the raffia palm tree, adorned with natural dyes and intricate embroidery.

Our interest with this unique African fabric has culminated in the geometric design of the Mungo Bakuba Throw – a striking fusion of bold vibrancy and understated elegance. Meticulously woven from 100% cotton sourced from Southern Africa, this naturally breathable fabric offers optimal comfort, adaptable to any season.

Crafted with a commitment to quality, the Bakuba Throw showcases cotton’s inherent softness and durability, ensuring long-lasting color vibrancy. With its distinctive zig-zag, geometric design, our collection offers three captivating colorways: a sun-kissed yellow blanket, named Turmeric, a classic Charcoal blanket, and a muted grey, called Smoke.

As part of our sustainability objective, we contribute 1% of our annual turnover to our Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative, MOVE, which seeks to protect the environment, and empower the people, of the Plettenberg Bay community where our mill and flagship store is based.
